In an all around ugly game, the Pilots (6-16, 4-11) were blanked by visiting Albany 10-0 on Friday. Nikko DeGrano was tagged for nine runs (seven earned) on 11 hits in five innings of work. Desperate for outs, Ollie Cunningham, having not pitched in years, came on in relief in the sixth and promptly recorded a strike out and a pop-out to end the inning. On the offensive side, the Pilots collected three hits in the losing effort.

The Pilots (6-15, 4-10) lost 8-4 at Piedmont on Wednesday after losing starter Matt Hermann (1-7, 3.39) earlier in the game due to injury. After giving up three runs early, Hermann settled down and seemed to be getting stronger toward the middle innings. While batting in the fourth, however, he was hit it the back of the head with a pitch during the Pilots three run inning. He later scored on Zack Alldridge’s two-run double before exiting the game with concussion like symptoms.
Robert Hansen (3-6 , 2.77) pitched the final four innings in relief, allowing five earned runs on six hits and picking up the loss.
In other news, the Pilots also picked up two league wins via forfeit as Kennedy has ended their baseball season.

The Pilots (4-14, 2-9) beat Lick-Wilmerding by a score of 2-1 on Friday. For the second game in a row, SJND rode a dominant pitching performance to pull off the win. This time, though, the offense struggled mightily managing only two runs on five hits despite having 11 base-runners.
On this day, however, two runs would be enough as sophomore ace Robert Hansen (3-5, 2.29) went the distance in a dominating performance, allowing the Pilots to come away victorious. Hansen allowed a single unearned run on a pair of hits, three walks, and 10 strikeouts. He was backed by a solid defense, most notably Ollie Cunningham, who, in the seventh inning with one out, threw out the would be tying run at home plate.

The Pilots (3-14, 2-9) used a five run second and lights out pitching to cruise to a 6-1 victory at SPSV. Justin Brown, Robert Hansen, and Matthew Hermann each added a pair of hits while Hansen added two RBIs on a pair of sacrifice flies. Freshman call-up Matthew Smith walked three times in four trips and also scored twice.
The biggest story was Hermann (1-7, 3.45) who went the distance allowing one run (zero earned), on five hits, and four strikeouts. It marked his first win in a season where his run support has been slim.

After trailing 2-0 going into the fifth at San Leandro, the Pilots (2-14, 1-9) came unglued allowing 10 runs in the fifth and sixth innings, losing by a final score of 12-1. The loss marked the end of a dismal Alhambra Tournament for the Pilots who lost all three games. Robert Hansen (2-5, 2.83) allowed six runs (five earned) on 10 hits over five innings of work in another losing effort against San Leandro. The biggest culprit was the SJND defense which committed five errors in the lopsided loss. The Pilots’ lone run came in the sixth as Nikko DeGrano singled and later scored on a sacrifice fly by Hansen.

The Pilots (2-13, 1-9) lost 9-2 at St. Mary’s in a game that they never led. Justin Brown was one of the lone bright spots on offense as he went 2-3 with an RBI and a run scored while hitting a loud triple off the right center field fence. Matthew Hermann (0-7, 4.06) took the loss in a game where he was hit hard by the powerful St. Mary’s lineup, giving up nine runs (five earned) on 12 hits in six innings of work.
Next Up: The Pilots visit San Leandro on Monday 4/23 at 4PM for the final game of the Alhambra Tournament which was originally postponed due to rain.
The Pilots (2-12, 1-8) lost to Encinal at home by a score of 8-2. In a game the saw SJND hold the lead for five innings, the team could not pull off the upset against their BSAL rival. With the game tied at 2-2 going into the top of the seventh, Encinal exploded for six runs as the Pilots did very little to stop the bleeding.
Robert Hansen (2-4, 2.08) took the loss in a game where he went 6+, allowing 3 runs (2 earned), on 5 hits, while striking out a pair. Ollie Cunningham had a big day, recording three hits and scoring both the Pilot runs. He also continued his solid defense making all six of his plays on defense.
